The haft of the knife felt cold against her palm while the fawn's body was warm against her side. A quick thrust, a short struggle, the stench of fresh blood sharp in her nostrils.

"Accept our humble gratitude for your offering." She set the knife aside. "In death ... you give life." Willow's voice broke, but she continued on. "May you find wings to the kingdom."

Her hands were covered in blood, but now she had the last ingredient. Soon, she would complete the spell. Rescue Buffy from hell. Bring her back to them.

Soon, everything would be right again.
